Movie Review – Shoot ’em Up

Saw at the theater
Rating – A-

When a mysterious loner named Mr. Smith (Clive Owen, Children of Men) delivers a woman’s baby during an intense shoot-out, he inadvertently lands himself at odds with the ruthless Mr. Hertz (Paul Giamatti). Aided by the enigmatic DQ (Monica Bellucci), Mr. Smith is tasked with protecting the newborn from Hertz and his henchmen. Written and directed by Michael Davis, this bullet-riddled action thriller also stars Ramona Pringle and Chris Jericho.

Non stop action.
Loooooots of gratuitous violence with a little gratuitous sex thrown in for good measure.
A series of hawsome action scenes tied together by the “plot”.
Oh. My. Good. A non-stop ride.
Some of the most hilarious one-liners I have heard in a long time. i.e. “It’s a better investment than a crib.” [referring to a bullet-proof vest for the baby]

To the folks who do the ads for this movie – feel free to use any of the above quotes. It is Gibson spelled with a “b”

  1. Hey, if you’re gonna invite reviewers to use the quotes, you’d better Trademark that “Oh. My. Good™” line 😉

  2. I watched Children of Men and really loved it. I’d say that together with the screen version of V for Vendetta, it’s probably one of the most important movies of the last couple of years, picturing our world as it is in danger of becoming very soon.

Though almost not having noticed Clive Owen earlier (except from sin city), I think he performed exceptionally well in Children of Men, so I’m looking forward to watch this one.
